A Moment In Time
(To my Daughter, Maelin)

On a Monday afternoon, a hot and humid day,
A couple waited anxiously, for the child for which they did pray.

Not sure if or when this moment would ever arrive,
This couples hopes and dreams managed to survive.

On this afternoon, many other parents joined them in happy tears,
Also dreaming of this day for so many years.

Suddenly in the room there appeared two babies so wee,
One taken to a couple~ the other into a room, was that the baby meant for me?

My husband said, “I think that was Maelin”,
Our excitement quickly grew as the reality set in.

Moments later, a woman began approaching us.
Could this be our baby girl, for whom we’ve made such a fuss?

I do not recall this woman’s face, or any details of her,
For I was too focused on who she carried, everything else was a blur.

She placed you in my arms, smiled, then walked away,
My prayers were answered on this very day.

My husband told me later that there were many cries,
Of babies meeting their new parents, with tears in their eyes.

The room was filled with chaos, but this I do not remember,
For all I was able to see and hear was my darling baby girl, so tender.

The most beautiful almond eyes staring back at me,
A sense of love and completeness came over me.

So strong is the love for this child, that it will exist for all of eternity,

This moment in time will be in my heart, forever with me.

High Alert! She's Crawling

Maelin was creeping along before (mostly on her tummy), but she's quickly learned to crawl (and is QUICK about it)...so Mom & Dad really need to watch her closely!!! She's also taking steps now when you hold onto her hands, I have a hunch she'll be walking very soon! All excellent news!

Mike and I weighed Maelin yesterday (just on our scales at home), we had suspected that she has gained weigt since going to the SOS clinic in China. She has gained 2 pounds according to our scales (I'm wondering if it's not more than that though).... We'll have to see next month when she has her one year check up! (can't wait:)

Yesterday afternoon, we had Maelin out in the van for a drive and she had a "cat nap" the the van and then woke up and was being so silly!!! She was grinning from ear to ear every time I turned around to look at her!
Then when we got home, gave her supper and tried to settle her down for bed she was getting sillier and sillier, smilling and giggling on her Daddys' lap ~ it's the first time we've actually heard her giggling (it was sooo precious)!
She really seems to be settling in and starting to show her personality more and more each day. The night before when we put her to bed we were outside her bedroom door after we laid her down (and thought she had gone to sleep), we could hear her rustling around in her crib, so we opened the door to check on her~ she had her legs hanging out then end of the crib, her blanket in hand, and another ear to ear smile! We love her so much!!!
Yesterday morning, when we thought she was still asleep, we could hear tiny noises for a few minutes on the monitor (but no crying) so we went to check and see what was going on, and there she was, laying on her back with her eyes wide open and chatting away to herself... too funny! She normally wakes up in the morning and cries...
There's been a few times that she's been crying in her sleep and I sure wish we knew what it was that was upsetting her, also a few times she actually woken up crying and we've wondered if she's been having nightmares...we'll have to see if it continues and mention it to our Dr, although I suspect and hope these will pass with time.

We have one that was given to us as a gift and it's all we use! These bibs are the best invention ever! There's no velcro (which Maelin hates), it has a magnet in the back instead and is very easy to put on and one side of the bib has a pocket to catch "drippings", and drool! There made of leather so just need wiped after each use....

My second favorite item so far are the nuby sippy cups with the handles. Maelin is quickly learning how to hold onto one and loves the "nipple top" which she likes to try and chew. I like these because when she decides to hold hers upside down it doesn't spill.

Winnie the pooh beehive teething ring: Maelin is teething big time! The only teething ring that she will take is this winnie the pooh one! It's got three sides to it so she takes turns with each side....we now have two of these...

If anyone has any other suggestions of awesome things to try with Maelin, let us know...

We've been home for almost a week!

I can't believe it but almost a week has passed, we've been so busy with our baby girl that we don't even know what day it is!
Maelin is doing awesome and is adjusting so well.
Our first night home, she slept 10 hours in her new bedroom without waking up once~ then Mom & Dad pulled an evil trick on her and started messing with her time zone! (unfortunate, but necessary...)
After about two night of short cat naps, she seems to have adjusted to our time zone and is sleeping through with a nap in the morning and one in the afternoon ~ I said "seems" because I don't want to jinx it!!!!
She is eating very well and we were given the okay by our Dr. to introduce her to everything (keeping the possibility of allergies in mind though)~ she seems to like everything so far! She loves her minigos and will easily eat a whole one!
She's not afraid of the dogs, which is a relief ~ and finds Sammy very entertaining...
She's a TV junkie ~ not so good...but alright with the right programs I guess...
Our carema quit on us, so we have to go out (hopefully today) to replace it~so no new pics (sorry, but will post some as soon as we can).
We love her more everyday, and she surprises us with new things everyday too!
She loves visitors and almost "dolls it up when we have company", especially for her Nannies!
We'll update more when we have some pics to post.

Our Family is now Complete...
